European passportsA Closer Look at national passports
As you now know, a passport from any of the 27 EU countries is effectively an EU passport, which means you have the right to live, work, and retire in any of these 27 countries.
What we would like to do here is take a closer look at the history of the passport of each individual country and its accessibility. When you have an EU passport, you of course have full access to all 27 EU countries, but visa-free access to third countries differs. Not dramatically, since an EU passport is extremely strong, but it is good to know the subtle differences.
For each country the ranking of its national passport is considered by cosulting Henley's Global Passport Ranking.
